Emergency project for WASH activities in Eastern Sudan

Context
In Eastern Sudan, as in other parts of the country, tensions and instability have had a significant impact on delivery of and access to water resources and sanitation services for vulnerable communities often exposed to natural disasters. The project will aim at supporting WASH sector in order to reduce water related diseases.
Objective: Contribute to reduction of water related diseases in communities through improved access to safe and clean water at selected health facilities.
Results and activities
1. Improved access to clean water at health facilities
– Drilling of new boreholes with solar pump and elevated tank;
– Construction of underground water reservoirs;
– Water system rehabilitation;
2. Improved hygiene awareness and hygiene behaviour in communities within catchment population
– Construction of latrines and other sanitation facilities;
– Training to strengthen hygiene knowledge and practices;
– Conduct water chlorination trainings;
