Last 27th and 28th of November 2022, UNIDO together with the Office for Investment and Technology Promotion in Germany (UNIDO ITPO) organized a business-to-business (B2B) entitled "Promoting access to renewable energy products for agricultural use" for over seventy stakeholders working within the renewable energy ecosystem in Sudan including suppliers and exporters of technological products, support institutions, farmers' associations and financial institutions, with the aim of facilitating connections through one-to-one bilateral business meetings.
The B2B event was carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources of the State of Kassala, the Federal Ministry of Industry and the Federal Ministry of Energy and Mines – Renewable Energy Directorate, and was promoted within the project "Resilience of agro-pastoral populations in Eastern Sudan" funded by the Italian Government through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
During the event, Michele Morana - head of AICS Khartoum office, representatives of the Sudanese federal and state governments, the private sector and universities presented the main success factors, challenges and opportunities related to the sustainable adoption of renewable energy technologies for the agricultural sector in Sudan and their efforts to ensure business sustainability and optimize the introduction of quality technologies into the Sudanese market.
The B2B is configured as one of the key activities of the project implemented by UNIDO whose objective is to develop key agricultural supply chains in Eastern Sudan by promoting the transfer of technologies, access to finance and the development of agri-food entrepreneurship with the final aim of increasing the ability to generate added value in the agricultural sector of Sudan.
