A seminar organized by the Ngo@ COE has been organised last May 23rd and 24th 2019 as part of the project "LOOKING BEYOND THE PRISON. Strengthening of civil society in social inclusion and protection and promotion of prisoners' rights and ex-convicts in Cameroon "started last June.
The keywords of the seminar were:
→ inclusion
→ protection and promotion of the rights of prisoners in Cameroon and in particular in the 4 prisons: Mbalmayo Main Prison, Bafoussam Central Prison, Douala Central Prison and Garoua Central Prison.
The meeting was an opportunity to present the activities and goals achieved so far, and those still to be achieved in the next two years.
∗ Creation of a cooperative / social enterprise for income-generating activities;
∗ Creation of business incubators for former prisoners;
∗ Trainings courses in agriculture, breeding and education; psycho-social ; public-private consultation;
∗ Legale Legal assistance;
∗ Awareness-raising activities for local communities to promote the image of prisoners;
∗ Support for the reintegration of ex-prisoners in their families;
∗ Healthcare: follow-up visits; supply of medicines; supply of personal hygiene kits; sanitizing material; 2500 health records; food aid.
