As part of the project AID 10894 (Emergency Initiative to support the health system, agriculture and food security and education of vulnerable population), an urgent health intervention was carried out at the MBaiki prison (about 100 km north of Bangui). A scabies epidemic has recently occurred in the structure, accompanied by a proliferation of fleas, lice and ticks. The intervention consisted in an disinfestation of all the clothing and all the rooms of the penitentiary. The detenees has gone through a medical check up as well. The activity ended with a brief personal hygiene course for prisoners and the distribution of cleaning products.
The activity has been carried out together with the italian NGO Amici per il Centrafrica.
