March 8, 2018: International Women's Day in Khartoum
On the occasion of the 8th of March, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Khartoum celebrated the International Women's Day in collaboration with Al Neelain University. The day focused on the slogan #PressforProgress to celebrate women's social, political and economic achievements and focused on sensitive themes such as health, economic development, leadership, environment, Gender Based Violence and education.
In particular, this year AICS Khartoum organized a group game based on a quiz on the abovementioned themes for University students. The aim was to obtain a score sufficient to earn the pieces of a puzzle that were going to compose the final inscription #PRESSFORPROGRESS. The winning group was GBV.
The celebrations were an occasion to also remember the role of Italy in Sudan and the commitment to promote the active participation of women in society by combating all forms of discrimination. Italy invests more than 6 million Euros in initiatives aimed at supporting the elimination of socio-cultural barriers that impede fair access to equality and equity of Rights, economic empowerment and access to credit as well as the Right to health.
